THINK LAST YEAR'S STAR AWARDS WAS CONTROVERSIAL? THINK AGAIN.

Many waited with bated breath just to see who's hot and who's not. Here is how it goes:

Best Actor
Zheng Ge Ping

Best Actress
Yvonne Lim

Kudos to both. They were no doubt the most gracious and deserving winners. Zheng Ge Ping was up against many great veteran actors like Tay Ping Hui and Chen Han Wei while Yvonne Lim was vying for the spot with hot favs like Joanne Peh, Jessica Liu and Ivy Lee (who won the past 3 years). It was the top 10 female artists which made my jaws drop 10 feet under.

Top 10 Popular Female Artists
Quan Yi Feng
Huang Bi Ren
Xiang Yun
Michelle Chia
Ivy Lee
Felicia Chin
Rui En
Jessica Liu
Vivian Lai
Kim Ng

For those who follow the local media scene closely, you get what i mean? Where did all the "sure to win" powerhouses like Joanne Peh, Jeanette Au and Fiona Xie go to? Out of the seven princesses mediacorp was banging on, not even half got into top 10. I was thinking before the show how wonderful it would be if one of the seven didn't make it but who would have even thought 4 of them didn't make the cut in the end.
Yes, fight with much vengeance next year.

Top 10 Popular Male Artists
Mark Lee
Christopher Lee
Qi Yu Wu
Tay Ping Hui
Edmund Chen
Gurmit Singh
Desmond Koh
Elvin Ng
Zhang Yao Dong
Bryan Wong

Top 10 male artists were more or less satisfactory but it was shocking that Terence Cao, Chen Han Wei and Pierre Png weren't in the pack.

Also, lost from the crowd of usual stars are Vincent Ng, Phyllis Quek, Jacelyn Tay and Ann Kok. (All of which didn't even get nominated)

Well of course, Zoe Tay, the Queen of Caldecott Hill was looking as glam and gorgeous as ever and accompanied with her are Fann Wong and Chen Li Ping, both of which have already joined her in the coveted position of All-Time Favourite Actress. I must say that Jessica Liu's triumph over the best outfit (for me) of the night wasn't a tough fight at all. Those flattering legs she flaunted really blew me away.

In addition, hands down to Dong Su Hua for winning the Best News Caster for fourth time running.

That's more or less for this year's Star Awards. Little juicy bits include Christopher Lee making Fann Wong go red in the face on stage. Well, it'll be really really fun too watch smooching on stage next year instead of mere pecks on the cheeks. ;)
